alternator whine? HELP!

hey all,
recently i bought a base scanner for my house which would eliminate the need for my handheld. i decided to place it in the car. in my 02 honda accord i put a radio shack speaker, extender audio wire and power supply through cig lighter. i didnt want a bulky antenna on the outside of my car so i bought The Para Dynamics PDC-64. it takes your am/fm antenna and splits it. 1 wire goes to radio, 1 goes to scanner. my problem is, since i've done this i have gotten a terrible alternator whine. it doesnt happen to my am/fm radio speakers though. only the scanner speakers when the car is on. if i unhook the antenna and put the stubby, no whine. please help.

Don't ya just HATE whiners!

I have never had good luck with AM/FM-Scanner converters. I tried a couple different ones and they just did not perform well.

To keep things low profile, look around for one of those little rare-earth magnet antennas. I have had a few over the years and they work great. I kept one in my gear bag at work and used it to bring my scanner in the squad and no whine and great signals.

I currently have an Opek VUM-201. It is a dual band (2M-440) whip with RG-174U cable and an SMA connector that fits directly on my BCD996t, BC330 or my Kenwood THF-6A. They also make them with BNC's for other radios.

The magnet is about the size of a nickel, and I can say from experience that it stays on the car past 75 MPH.

Try re-routing the coax going to the scanner and see if that take care of the alt. whine.
