Hello. I have one question I am hoping anyone on here can answer for me.

I am in ZONE 3.

This morning our Ambulance was out at a call and when they were finally on their way back into town I heard them say they are: 10-8, 10-19 and CODE 72. I am pretty sure it was CODE 72.

I never heard this code used before. So I am just wondering if anyone on here can maybe tell me what it means so if I ever hear it again. I will know.

So I will be waiting for any replies to this post. Thanks.

It's an extension to the old Code-7, which at the time basically meant "Ambulance Not Used". In some areas, they still use just Code-7. In Ottawa, they now use "Code-7" for "out of service" (as in end of shift, etc), and Code 71 through 76 for "Ambulance Not Used", thusly:
71 = No patient found
72 = Patient refused care/transport
73 = Patient expired [as in dead]
74 = Patient in police custody
75 = Transported by another ambulance
76 = Canceled before patient contact

Febrile Respiratory Illness

In other words, anything where there's some indication of breathing issues (coughing included) plus a fever.

When first used it was in conjunction with SARS (remember that?), and later became more generic. Whenever you call for service, there's a series of questions to ask, and if you answer Yes to more than a couple, you trigger a FRI warning. In that case the medics are supposed to wear additional protective gear.

Why you guessing? I just said what it was lol At least in Peel that's what the code name is .

Yeah, you said what it was... which I agree with. But I was guessing what the acronym actually stood for.

Thanks for the info bpsmicro.
