• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I found http://cms.firehouse.com/content/article/article.jsp?id=44026&sectionId=46

whichis dispatches from 9/11 FDNY but "12:45 - 1:33 p.m" under Manhattan Fire Dispatch is extremly quiet and Mahattan is almost completely inaudible.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a free program or something that I could easily amplify these tapes, because I want to listen to them, but the last tape is extremely quiet.

In the first Brooklyn Dispatch tape they say something about the communication manual and section 641 and this was going to be Citywide. Anyone know anything about that?

Also, I heard about Fallback 4 for the whole City or something. Anyone know exactly what they meant there?

Google MP3Gain.
It's freeware.

I think we've all listened to these tapes, they are crazy ... I just used headphones and turned the volume up... iirc it wasn't that quiet to begin with

if you still want to alter them, get Audacity, its free and it will do what you are describing ...

Well that works for almost all of the tapes except for some reason the last one which is insanely quiet for some reason. I can't even hear while completely blasting.

MP3Gain worked, it added insane static but I can hear what they are saying now except I think any program would do probably do this.
