Amtrak Police

I am doing a spreadsheet of JUST the AMTRAK POLICE PL's on 161.2950 for the different stations around the cou ntry. I HAVE the Northeast Corridor from the NJ board from DC to Boston so I'm looking for others, if they are out there

No, they are not. Each railroad that operates a police force has it's own police operations frequencies. Where railroads operate in close proximity to each other, railroad law enforcement agencies oftentimes grant access to each other's police channels - which may give you the impression that they might all be on the same frequency. A typical example of this would be in the New York Metropolitan area where MTA Police units can come up on AmTrak Police and NYCPD Transit Bureau channels and AmTrak Police units can come up on New Jersey Transit police channels.

Okay, i guess i should look at the database and see what i can glean from that? Do you happen to know if i`ll hear `em on the standard dispatch channels or not, might make for a lotta searching, given that most railroad stuff is low-power simplex i think, i`ll see what i can scare up, however if anyone can help it`s always appreicated. Amtrak police is practically non-existant on the west coast. They definitely do not use 161.295.

I thought Amtrak Police was using 173.275, 173.325 or 173.375 on the east coast? These freqs are licensed all over the place back there...along with a handful between 151 and 159 mhz.

Amtrak police is practically non-existant on the west coast. They definitely do not use 161.295.

Amtrak police on the west coast usually contract with the counties in which they operate for dispatch services.

In the San Francisco Bay area they can be heard on Santa Clara County Sheriff, and in San Mateo County on the 480Mhz San Mateo County trunk system.

I believe in Sacramento they are on the County 800mhz trunk system.

Seattle did or still has a special agent, Matt Le Blanc. don't know if he's still there He used to ride the Seahawk trains with a night stick as tall as he was.

They do, but those frequencies form a repeater that is installed downtown on a Federal building of some sort. AAR 63 is the output. They talk occasionally throughout the day, but there's nothing worth while to listen to.

Train crews, management, and even other police officers acknowledge that Amtrak Police is a total joke.

What exactly do you mean by "standard dispatch" channels?

Also, what railroad police are you looking for specifically that you require assistance with?

Hey there, shouldda clairified things a bit, sorry. Anyway, what i meant by "standard dispatch channels" was the ones that the dispatcher uses normally (at least around the state of WI), Also, that happens to be where i`m looking for the CN police freqs if possible. I`m intrested in the WI area (entire state if i can get for that). However i`m getting the sneaky feeling they did like out Dept. of Transportation did...they went to cellphones and (as some folks call them) "crackberrys", so i`m thinkin` that there won`t be a lot to hear anymore. If they just went P25 then i`d be in luck thanks to my `396T. So, what i`m looking for is the CN police freqs for the entire state of Wisconsin. BTW, had a look at the RR database and couldn`t find `em there. Thanx for any help! N9NRA

Looks like they contracted San Mateo County Sheriff to replace Amtrak Police for CalTrain, for the entire 77 mile corridor:

Last Wednesday we were at Los Angeles Union Station waiting for the Sunset Limited for our trip back home to Arizona. We saw several Amtrak Police officers, including a K9 unit, inspecting the contents of a trash container (drugs, explosives?). Later when we were on the train, there was an unruly person on the platform. At first several of the railroad personnel were dealing with her, and eventually another Amtrak police officer responded.

Unfortunately, I didn't have my scanner for the trip -- we had a substantial amount of carry-on luggage, and that would have been "the straw that broke the camel's back."

That's about all they're good for, problems at Los Angeles Union Station and the 8th Street Yard. They don't ride the trains very often.
