Hi everybody!

I'm new here and curious what's interesting to listen to in Anoka County? I'm mostly wondering about Aircraft/Airport type scanning. I live about 10 miles NW of the Blaine/Anoka County Airport and would like to see if I can hear much radio comm's from planes headed to that airport.

Also... I'm not sure what Anoka County LE and Fire are using these days for their main voice communications. I used to listen a lot years ago... but just getting back into it a bit.

So what do you all listen to up that way?

Thanks!

Another Quick Question.

I am about 99% sure that the main dispatch freq for the Anoka County Sheriff's office and all city PD's in the county is 155.640. Why when I program that in my radio, I can't hear a thing, but I can hear all kinda of dispatches when I listen live here?

As far as the Anoka Co airport goes, you can probably hear the planes from your location, but probably not the control tower unless you get a good antenna up in the air. The frequency is 132.4.

You can still hear Fire dispatch on 154.2800 because it's simulcast for paging, but other than that you will need a digital scanner to listen to Police/Fire/EMS.

They no longer use that frequency. Other than the fire simulcast that I mentioned, everything has moved to the ARMER 800MHz digital trunking system, so you will need a digital scanner to hear them.

So my new Yaesu FT-60R won't hear the 155.640?? Dang... oh well. I guess I've lived this long without it.

I'm guessing there is not a whole lot to listen to up this way (Andover) with a handheld.

Is there a main 800Mhz Freq. that they use or does this system bounce around somehow? I can program in 866.whatever.... maybe my radio would work for listening?

No, it won't work because it's digital. You could tune to the frequency but all you would hear is digital data. A digital scanner decodes that data into audio. Over the last several years, pretty much all public safety in the metro area has gone digital and it's slowly making its way statewide.

Here's a bunch of stuff on VHF that you can still listen to. I'm able to pick up all of these from Blaine on my VX-170.

155.475 MINSEF
