Another AR-ONE Question (IF Out) for you AOR experts

According to the manual the IF Out has a +/- 5MHz bandwidth, for a total of 10MHz. When I connect the IF Out to an SDR, the signal out is only as wide as the bandwidth setting on the radio. For example, if I tune the AR-ONE to a broadcast FM signal and set the bandwidth to 200k or 300k, that amount of bandwidth is all I see on the SDR spectrum. So, I'm curious - how do I get the full 10MHz out? What I expected to see is all the signals +/- 5MHz of the frequency tuned on the AR-ONE. I've tried multiple different SDRs and SDR software, just to see if it is something I'm doing wrong, but all give the same results. I've also tried multiple different modes and bandwidth settings with the same results.

My main intended use case for the IF Out is to connect it to my AOR AR-DV10 for digital voice decoding, which works fine. However, it would be nice to see (and be able to tune) all that bandwidth and all those signals.

Any ideas would be appreciated, even if they start with...hey dummy, you're supposed to...

Is the IF frequency you are seeing 455 kHz? Section 6-16 (page 51) shows how to configure the IF output frequency. It says only the 10.7 MHz selection is +/- 5MHz. I am assuming the 455 kHz tap point is after the filters.

My AR-5000 also has IF Output selection, but both selections are at 10.7 MHz. One is the +/- 5MHz bandwidth and the other is the IF filter bandwidth. Maybe your receiver was modified to always output 10.7 MHz so it acts the same as the AR-5000.

Both my selections (455KHz/10.7MMHz) also output only at 10.7. When I set it to 455KHz, I get no output at 455KHz, but I still get output at 10.7MHz. Sounds like you might be right about it having been modified to output only at 10.7, but I would still expect to see 10MHz of signal.

Here's an excerpt from the manual:

"6-16 Configure IF output frequency

The function enables you to tap the 2nd IF signal (10.7MHz) or the 3rd IF signal (455KHz) from the BNC (marked as 10.7MHz) type connector on the rear panel. The 10.7MHz of the 2 nd IF signal is to be used with the optional SDU5600 spectrum display unit for signal analysis. The bandwidth at 10.7 MHz is +/- 5 MHz from the center frequency (10 MHz total). "

This led me to believe that the 10.7MHz IF Out was NOT after the filters. Otherwise, how would the SD5600 (spectrum display unit) show 10MHz of signals?

That's what I am using. I get whatever the bandwidth is set to. With 455KHz, I get nothing. I had a 5000A+3 that I sold quite some time ago. Wish I hadn't :).
