Antenex Phantom VHF (TRABT1420)
I have an Antenex Phantom VHF antenna model numberTRABT1420. This antenna has a very narrow bandwidth and its performance is significantly less than a 1/4 wave (unity gain) antenna. I have run comparisons between my Larsen whip and the Phantom on the same NMO mount located on the roof of my truck. I use the Phantom when I know I will be going to a parking garage because the 1/4 wave it too tall and I have no clearance issues with the Phantom.

It will perform about like you'd expect for a no-gain antenna.

There is not much magic in antennas. Little antennas work worse that full size antennas and no one is going to fix that with coils.

I got a vhf phantom and I love it for metro. scanning in high RF areas. It reduces intermode, and makes listening alot more enjoyable.
