• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

What are the antenna laws in the Toronto area?It looks like I'm going to be moving into a apartment and cannot pay rent so have to downside to a apartment .

I was thinking of getting some 800 MHz antenna that is mounted by the window .And take the antenna to other room if needed. It will have to be later on , has I drop my scanner this week on the ground and it does not work in a proper way.

I need a new scanner and will get a better 800 MHz antenna than the cheap one that comes with it .And because all I need is a 800 MHz antenna that is 90% of my monitoring.

Then get an 800 MHz antenna and put it inside your apartment. If you mount it to your balcony your building manager may request it be taken down.

Well I know that my building asked that we not put up a sat dish directly on the railing but on a tri-pod.
Best bet-Ask when you look at the place or if you are gonna do it regardless read thru your lease. There are always great nuggets of info there, restrictions.
