I'd like to put two receive antennas on the same mast. One is tuned for 1090 MHz and the other is for the 118-137 MHz range.

Does placing them both side by side, affect the reception of the other?

Yes, but for receive only antennas, it will only be a very slight shadow, or null, to signals approaching from the direction of the other antenna.

Basically, you will probably not notice a problem.

The affect would be similar to side mounting an antenna on a tower. The spacing between the antennas will determine the extent as well as which one will have the greater affect and what kind of affect.
