I'm trying to choose between a MONR31 or MON64 base scanner antenna. Anyone had experience with either?

I don't remember which models those are...Depends on the freq band you listen to most.....You CAN NEVER go wrong with a Diamond Discone...I have ran over 3 for the past 15 years with excellent results
overall. Most of my listing is on VHF high 150-170 and UHF 450-470..Very little 800 after the phones went digital...LMMFAO...Just my 2 cents.....

The MONR31 is a great antenna for VHF hi and low band and works good on UHF. Not too sure on 800. The vehicle version of the MONR31 was very highly regarded in past years because the low band portion resonated right around 42MHz and it was the best antenna for monitoring the CHP around here. There was a version that had a choke sleeve below the coil that supposedly improved 800, the mobile version of this was the MON52 or 53.

The MON64 is the same as a Hustler Discone, which only has three top and bottom radials and is more of a joke than a Discone.

"MON64 is listed here. http://www.cheapham.com/ant-base.html"

Cheapham doesn't carry Antenna Specialists products for the reason I stated above. That's why I linked to Universal Radio where many similar products may be found.
