• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Any recommendation for a reputable CB repair shop/person...?

Im just getting back into CB and Im brand spanking new to the forum. Been lurking for a bit, I needed to join. I appreciate any help.

Im looking to have someone check out a new unit I bought. I believe it has issues. Finding someone good and that is not an ennema bag seems to be a challenge from what I already encountered. So rather than scroll through youtube vids, I thought I'd reach out here for solid info on reputable people I can contact.

Thank you!

You might try some of your local truck stops that have a CB repair shop, a lot of them dose more than just peak and tune them. I have had many repairs done on my radios from them, i know the ones in my area will hook them up for free and check them out for you but and then there are some that will charge for a small fee its worth a try.

Interesting. Off the top of my head, I can't think of a truck stops here in LI NY. But that all makes sense and I'll check into it. Thank you!

Thank you.

I believe his name is Bob. He opens at 10:00. He's been around over 30 years. I had my 1986 Cobra 148GTL serviced by him about 6 years ago, and have gone in to get other little CB doo-dads before moving to Florida. Quality work. Probably the only one on Long Island now. Good luck.

I'm with this guy. If this is a new unit, go the warranty route.
I guess I was trying to kill 2 birds with 1 stone by finding a good shop to help look at the unit and then if I wanted any work done in the future...
But its all good now. Thank you for your response.

Yes indeed. Since the time I posted I had recently found PM Elec and spoke with Bob. ...and yes he is the only guy on Long Island.

I appreciate everyone talking the time and posting. Thanks
