I remember seeing those, but G.E. never made anything that impressed me. I worked for them for nine years back in the 80's. It will probably be fun to play with!

Responding to an old post-I just ran across a GE Searcher 2 Plus 2, 6 channel, AM/FM/VHF/UHF, wondering if there's any info out there on it?

Wow! I haven`t seen one of them since i was in highschool, i had a schoolmate at the School for the Blind in Janesville, WI that had one, he never used the scanner on it that i can recall, but it did have a pretty good AM/FM radio on it. If i`m correct the scanner in it is a "rock-box" (crystal controlled) unit right? seeing as it only has four channels on it i`m thinking that`s the case. Still, this defenitely brings back nice memories of my highschool days :D. Question for ya, have you tried to use the scanner? ya have any luck, and how was the recieve with the telescoping whip on the radio? N9NRA

I'm now reading an article in Dec. 2011 monitoring times page 21 that describes this unit. pictures look like some crystals are in it but are not used to tune the channels. there is a plastic cover to remove and under it are 4 tuning knobs, 1 per channel. apparently the meter gives a relative position in the frequency range. the searcher 2 plus 2 adds 2 channels and UHF and front panel is changed a lot.
