• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Tait 3040S2 (340-360MHz) handheld

when turned on it says

"programming mode
program database"

When connected to the COM port to program the radio, the display reads below

"ERROR!X32.The database for this radio is corrupted"
and the serial NO. of the radio

What is wrong with it?

Does anybody have the programming manual?

Thank you!

Tait has a CD that has all the latest manuals, software, etc on it that tait reps usually have. Only trouble is that It seems to me that there are no reps around anymore.

I had that error message and the problem was that I needed OLDER software. The latest software corrupted the radio.

I thought it was going to be a "brick" until I got the older software--Even then the only way the radio took it was to start the download at exactly the same time you turned the radio on. If you let the radio boot up like normal it would lock out any downloads from the computer.

Thank you for the information!

I hava another Tait radio——Orca 5000 handheld which is locked down by the system controller and can not be pragrammed anymore,is there any way to unlock it?

I don't know; you mean it was stunned or killed by a sent command, I assume?

If it was password protected, forget it.

You might try like I said before, dumping a new progam into it by sending it at exactly the same time you power up the radio--it worked for me after I messed up by trying to program an older orca eclipse with newer software.
You have to send the new program before the radio completely boots up and "realizes" it was stunned or had a correupted program loaded--

I sold both Taits I had because of problems like that and also the batteries were hard to get. They are big in europe and canada tho--

you are right,it was stunned(or killed as you said) by a certain command signal(do not remember the exact name) from the controller.

I am not sure whether it is password protected. The lcd just displays nothing but the signal strength after booting up.

I am wondering if I sand a UNLOCK(revive) command signal to the radio, will it be operational again? But the problem is how and where to get this signal.

Ummm,.. with apologies,.. if its been killed that is because it affiliated on a system it was not athorized to affiliate on therefor if it IS supposed to be on siad system you will need the system's techs to "wake it up". If not no matter what you do every time it is awoken and turns on and again will try to affiliate,.. and once again if its not athorized to be on that system then it will be killed again... This is the same way a LOT of Motorola and Tyco/MA-Comm systems are designed. Go to love security protocols for Trunked Systems.

Not at all....:)

This ORCA 5000 was an authorised terminal in that system ,but was stunned one day while it is working.

Orca 5000 has the STUN & REVIVE function. The radio can be stunned when it is activated and can NOT be stunned when it is not activated. All of this can be set up in the programming software.

I think I need a way of waking it up except for receiving a UNSTUN command signal from the system.

Find out what firmware is in the radio-hold ptt while switch on.

Generally this X32 database can be displayed after new firmware or corrupted database.
If using the incorrect users software it should not corrupt the radios current database.
You may have the incorrect "banding " but I am sure you have not overlooked that.
If it was a Chinese version Tait " could have made a dedicated programming software package for that radio. If this is the case you may not be able to do much in the current state.

You can download a later firmware and try that.
Regards
Brad
