I have the radio shack digital trunking scanner ( pro 197 ) and I guess just recently, Toledo Police have changed their frequencies. I need the new frequencies so I can try to program it..thanks

I took my scanner to radio shack, the guy was supposed to put the new stuff in like everyone else's too, but he programmed it to where it's hard to even hear anything...and I have no idea how to program it myself..might have to sell this scanner now.

Might pay you to learn, Ohioguy. Programing a trunking scanner is harder than a straight analog one but it isn't impossible to do.

I remember years ago when you actually had a Radio Shack employee know what they were doing and could really help you with all of your technical problems. Now they pay somebody min wages and RS just wants to have a warm body to run the credit cards.

Sounds like Ohioguy needs to do some studying. You can't just have somebody paste frequencies or talkgroups and just plug them in. If you don't understand the basic of programming a scanner for trunking systems then hand holding is impossible. Good Luck

Recommend that you download the software to program it(and pick up a programming cable, if you don't already have one). It will make your life a whole lot easier. I know it did for me!

I actually figured it out guys.. the guy at Radio Shack put EVERYTHING in my scanner, pretty much all type of law enforcements..what threw me off was all the abbreviations it shows on the scanner itself. I had to look at the link you gave above and find my local talk groups I will listen to and figure out the shortcut meanings in a sense...

Sure have, and not an easy scanner to program.. Even the manager had a hard time programming the 1st one ( he cloned all the rest ).

It's working great now..I only listen to certain areas of local PD anyways, in 2 months, my PS4 will be easy to pick up, then won't even be listening to my scanner much..I will be too busy playing Battle Field 4 on the Playstation 4.. Haha
