• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Anyone know these radio codes?

Some of the LE agencies in Washington county, use the code of 54-10 or 54-11 as the final disposition of traffic stops. I'm guessing that this indicates where a citation has been issued, or it has just been a "yell stop." I'm wondering which is which, and also where these two codes come from. Can't seem to find anything on them.

They’re actually cutting the code short.

The full code is 5499-10 which is a commercial vehicle inspection and 5499-11 which is fleeing.

Agencies like SLCPD and UPD clear every call with these codes, but it’s often done over the MDT

There are hundreds of them.
