I know the signal is pretty weak, at least here in Bellevue. If you do listen, listen for Bellevue First Responders Fox126, or Bellevue PD 3927. That will be me.

I listen constantly if in the area. (I reside in the North end of the county).
Not great reception up here of the FD frequency, but I'll see what I can hear.
I get down that way now and then, with CAEMS. :)

You work with Charlotte EMS, huh? I've probably seen you then. I know I've met a John or two.

I am on Eaton Rapids Twp. Fire Department (1236 if I ever use it, or "station 12)

explain to me what the "FOX" designator signifies down there. I hear you guys use it all the time, but never understood what it was for.

have a good day

I believe the Medical teams use A-F to designate who they are and where they are from. Charlotte uses A in front of their unit numbers, so they say "Alpha 122" to identify themselves. Here in Bellevue, we have "F" so we say "Fox" numbers. Our rig is F-119 or Fox-119. I believe the Fire Dept's just use numbers.
PS Also, I work at the Fort Custer Training Center, and I believe your Chief works at our base. I know I see a pickup with ERFD Chief or something like that on the front license plate.

Because Bellevue runs MFR's as a seperate agency from any fire department, they are not simply bellevue fire mfr's.
So to distinguish them as an MFR agency vehicle, the Fox preface is added.
This way, when dispatch is online and hears 'Fox' whatever, they know it is an MFR agency response vehicle.
Just like A-xxx is advanced life support and Bravo-xxx is basic life support.

On a side note, how does that van work out as an MFR truck?
Where I live, we bought an old ambulance, (not too old), marked it up as first response, took out the cot, and use it as our MFR truck. We've found the space in back extremely valuable on winter PI's and multiple victim wrecks where we can board or just shelter people and have them in the back. As a dept we've sworn we'll never be without this capacity again.

Oh, OK. Maybe I'm losing my mind.
As for the rig, we're looking at getting a new one. The one we have now is a 2500 series van, and it sucks. We can get one patient in it, but that's it. Our equip is sitting in there, and if we ever get in a rollover, whomever is inside will probably have head injuries! Not safe! Our chief is trying to convince the twp board to finance a box rig based on a Ford F-450 chassis. We had an ambulance a long time ago, but that dumb thing broke down more than it ran.

Thanks for the update, good info. As things sit, or township board has always been generous with equipment requests, it's nice to know that van doesnt work so well in case they get a sudden urge of financial crisis.
I didnt realize you even attempted to get someone in the back. I run the same van for my 'day job' and it's tight with shelving back there.
Are you considering emt-basic at all? The beach is supposed to have a class coming up this fall.

Howdy from me, too Francis.
The van has a 1/4 shelf, heavy wood, with a solid top on it. We slide backboards into it. If we have to, we can put one backboarded patient on top of it.
I will probably take EMT basic, but I just got out of the Police Academy in December. I am trying to recover from that financially, then I'll take the EMT class. Do you know if Dan Sowles is teaching it? He is really good.
