Im new to ham and new to ham radio and its tech so its a learning curve. All was going well had did all the steps to get up and going. Made first contact on our local repeater. Updated the code plug like ive done numerous times. Now when I try to transmit ...the contacts group talk screen comes up and im not transmitting ... At least it seems like im not transmitting. Im at a loss. I didnt change any settings just added a new zone with new frequencies.

Hi Billy (@tornadobilly) and welcome to Radio Reference!

Your tri-band AnyTone AT-D578UVIIIPRO mobile's codeplug is somewhat similar to my dual band AnyTone AT-D878UVII PLUS portable's codeplug so I may be able to help you. I can always download the Customer Programming Software (CPS) for your rig should I need to look at your codeplug file.

Where did your rig come from? Was it purchased from BridgeCom Systems within the last year? Just curious because they are quite helpful.

The basic issue seems to be a new Zone with some new Channels in it but none of them are working because you are apparently not transmitting.

Do you have a HotSpot that you can transmit to (instead of the repeater) so that you can use the Dashboard to monitor what your RF signal is doing and which Talkgroup you are accessing? From the mobile, you want to use the lowest transmit power possible and ideally you can have a HotSpot with a laptop computer in the vehicle (or all of this on your workbench). Trying to establish what your configuration is that we can use for testing. If you have to use the repeater there in Colorado, you just don't have as much feedback. In that case, perhaps I or another Radio Reference member can coordinate with you to monitor the talkgroup that you think you will access on our HotSpot's Dashboard and capture your parameters that way.

So Billy, let us know what you have and we'll see what can be done. Perhaps you should go ahead and post a copy of your codeplug so we can look at it for any obvious issues.

Hello Dave,
Thank you very much for responding!! Yes from Bridgecom within the last 3 months. I have only learned about these hotspots but I am just trying to really get a grasp on the basic HAM function. Talk groups APRS/DMR is a function I haven't learned much of yet, looks like I got some learnin to do lol. So my first two zones were all my area where I can hit the repeaters most of the time. I could transmit on all that and had a few checkins on one of our nets. Whats the best way to send you my codeplug? (I just noticed all my DMR Modes are set to DMR/simplex, and I remember them being on repeater but I didnt change them). Not sure if thats anything... so in the mean time ill do some youtube learning on dmr and aprs with hotspots

Hl Billy (@tornadobilly),

The best way to send me your codeplug file is to Zip it and then use the “Attach files” button in the lower left corner. I’ll look 👀 at that and we can proceed from there.

I too just got on DMR [Bridgecom Plus n Play] and found that the $14.99 a month for the Bridgecom University has been extremely beneficial. Youtube has it's place as well but BCU it specific to what ever Anytone and/or hotspot situation you have, plus support by phone or email.
I'm have no affiliation w/BC, just putting it out there.

Hundreds of step by step videos.

Hope that helps! K5XDR
