Has anyone experienced the anytone AT-8888-uv fail to stop scanning when transmission is received? I find that this radio will not stop scanning for any channel. I had an Ed Fong dual band antenna tuned to 155.1075/463.1075. The radio will only stop scanning for our dispatch channel 155.1075. I assumed the issue was the antenna so I purchased an HYS multi band antenna and had no changes. I understand that this is not an amateur radio frequency and I am not a licensed ham. I do know that someone in this group knows what I am doing wrong or what radio I should use.
I am not certain anyone will be able or willing to address this question, but with my local radio shop closed, I am at a loss for where to get advice. Background: I am not licensed as a ham...never took the test. I am a service chief for a volunteer ambulance company and have been using the emergency service bands since I was 14. Years ago I purchased a "modified" Icom dual band radio from a shop in my area. I used it as a scanner and base radio. After almost a decade of service, the transmit functions failed. My beloved wife bought me an anytone 8888 for my birthday to replace it. While I wanted to return to the ham shop and get a quality radio that would rx/tx on our dispatch frequencies and work with the uhf ham repeaters in my area. Someday I will take the test. So now I have the anytone 8888 and given the state of our economy and my bank account, do not want to buy another radio unless I have no alternative. I also no longer have Lentini communications available to get guidance in CT. I know I can just get a scanner and use my portable to sign on at home, still the base station is something I have grown accustom to. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
