• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I'd like to start an official Anytone Thread for Anytone radio users. The radio I recently purchased is the Anytone "AT-518UV II" I plan on using it for Amateur Radio and for public safety (I'm a firefighter/Dispatcher and also plan on programming in my Department's channels along with the local amateur groups)

The software used is called "QPS518UV_1.01" searching this turns up NO results in Google, I'm looking for a HELP MANUAL for this software so I can get started programming, of if anyone uses it can explain to me how to.

QPS518UV_1.01 Software Screen Shots

The first picture is the main screen, the 145.000 is a default channel that pops up when you click "file, new" and create a new system.

The second screen is when you double click the >> below the word "More" in the row you are entering information into.

miklor.com has info on the other Anytone radios. I have the 3318, and the screen shots you posted look exactly like the software for my radios. I have noticed, that other models use basically the same menus and software. If you read about how to program my model, you should be able to do yours ...

QPS518UV_1.01 Software

The QPS518UV_1.01 Software is the OEM version programing software and I have used it for both the Tri Band 5188 UVE and Dual band 5188 UV models of the radio and it works fine.

Also RT Systems offers software and cables for this radio. I have used it also. There are more features you can control with the RT software and it comes with a decent help file with in the program to help with programing.

Finally, It as user's choice to find which software they are more comfortable with.

So, you can buy a nice basic dual band Anytone AT-3208UV-A for $59.95 and the free Anytone software works well and seems to be very easy (for me) to understand and operate. The RT Systems software and programming cable is $49.95??

Or right now on Amazon you can get a Baofeng UV-5R for $26.87 with a $5.99 programming cable and the free software works pretty well in my opinion. But wait, the RT Systems software and cable for the UV-5R is $49.95. What's up with that?

I have a feeling the free programming software from Chirp is taking a big dent out of their sales. In fact, I think I'll go to the Chirp site right now and see how I can donate some $$ to their wonderful cause.

Update;
I just donated $20 to Chirp and hope others do the same. Maybe someday they will include all the Anytone handhelds in the free software lineup.

CHIRP is great, but the volunteer only system can only do so much. They'd need some serious funding to be a real threat to the software of other companies.

PS: AT-398UVD owner here. Great little radio.

Reportedly because the FCC ordered them to stop selling to the general public.

Titan, which programming software are you using for the 398? Having trouble getting mine to talk to my computer.
