• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Can anyone tell me the difference in the following radios:
Anytone 3318UV-E
Anytone 398UVD
Anytone Tech Terminator 8R.

The AT-398UVD and Termn 8R seem very close in similarity.

Anytone Tech Terminator 8R.

The termn8r isn't an anytone branded radio, it's an anyone tech branded radio. Same mfr, but the the terminator is only sold from one guy. Or I should say was sold since they are no longer available for sale

Termn 8r for sale?

I saw a couple day ago that the Anytone Termn 8r was available through the website... Readymade resources.com. Any idea why the specs are crossed off?

I don't know if I would trust it until Anytone Tech either sells it again on their website or Amazon.

I have the Anytone 3318UV-D dual band and 3318UV-E tri-band, they both do full duplex and cross band repeat where the 398UVD is not advertised as being a cross band repeater.

The 3318UV-D is a VHF/UHF dual band radio and the E model is tri band adding the 220MHz amateur band. These are the absolute best Chinese hand helds I've used to date and much better than any offerings from Baofeng or Wouxun, which I've also owned several of.

WHAT?!?!? After all the flaming of AnytoneTech there is someone who would wait for them?

Not saying AnytoneTech is good or bad - just that they have a lot of haters on this forum.

Surprised to see it back. Good radio, the dedicated gmrs mirs mode, always had to look up in the book how to go to that mode. Just as easy to program in a channels, then assign a group and select the group or deselect it at will. The radio kind of flew in under the radar as it does cover alot of spectrum. It doesn't transmit everywhere but it does receive a pretty large spectrum. The other day someone was asking about a ht that covered cb, this one does. 2-30 mhz am. For ham vhf and uhf, great radio. Had mine for awhile, and I have had no problems. Audio is loud, 1 watt speaker. Like many Chinese radios, it plays fm 88-108 music while you monitor whatever on the vhf/uhf spectrum. Audio is much better than other Chinese radios I have worked with. Only short coming that I have found, I would like to have a bigger battery but one is not available. Tech support through Anytone Tech has been prompt. Email in the evening and most times, answer back a few hours later. Had no quality control issues. So any specs that are crossed off, should not hender operation of the radio as they are other ways to work the radio.

I don't like how the GMRS stuff is crossed out on the product description but then goes on to say it's part 95 certified.

if you never plan on talking gmrs or mrs, part 95 is a no matter deal. Why is crossed out, I guess that are not suggesting they are part 95 .But if you wanted to buy one, looks like they are available from a source, who is a a ham. Don't believe the radio has been flashed with a new software.

Consider that AnytoneTech may not have them available again. I doubt they want to risk another FCC letter.

I would not be surprised if they sold their stock to this other company IF they had Anytone make that model just for them. Or maybe AnytoneTech is using the other company as a third party.
