Hi Guys,
Wonder if you can help ? Recently given an AOR 3000a Scanner/Receiver however it only came with a 12v cigarette style lead.
I have been trying to locate a mains power supply but not having much luck herein the UK - I did hear that a US made modem from the 1990's has the same 3 pin cluster style plug that the AOR uses, BUT I cannot remember the name of the modem !!!!
Can anyone help ?
I appreciate any help or advice , also because I am a Firefighter here in the UK working for the US Airforce over here , I can get stuff sent to me from the US relatively easy to the Base here in East of England !
Thanks in advance,
Kevin

mmckenna,
so sorry for delay in responding - really appreciate your idea.
I have done exactly that , managed to get really nice power supply from UK dealer that has cigarette socket and I ordered and received a new cigarette lead....all working perfectly !!!!
FYI , I think the modem was made by HAYES ???
Thankyou so much & also to anyone else who read the thread.

I had a Sencore LC meter years ago that had the same three pin plug as some of the AOR receivers. The pins are arranged in a triangle. I've also bought a coaxial power plug adapter kit that takes in a 2.5mm power plug and gives you a bunch of different configurations including the 3 pin AOR type. You can find these adapter kits on Ebay. That way you can use a 220v to 12v power supply with a 2.5mm plug then adapt to the AOR type.

Edit: I looked in my power adapter stuff and found this. Let me know if this is the AOR power connector. If so this adapter takes a 2.5mm power plug in and gives you the 3 pin out. Its part of a $12 adapter kit that comes with over 30 combinations of connectors.

I see I'm overdue for a pedicure.

PRCguy,
So sorry for the delay in my response to your excellent post - I only get chance to jump on my laptop when off duty and we've been particularly busy at work last few days on Base ( keeps the cobwebs of the Crash Trucks at least !!)
Yes, the 3 pin photo looks perfect - plus your description on where to obtain is such a bonus , ebay here I come.
As soon as I've located and got the leads I will reply on the forum with an update.
Really appreciate you taking the time to respond with a fantastic body of text and photos......btw nails could do with some colour ?!!!!!
Have a great weekend , stay safe,
