AOR 8600

I am recording action from my AOR 8600 onto a 30 quid sony Dictaphone and have three Dictaphones on the and have five files on each of them .
But it seems when I get to file c and d it starts to play up and won't start to record so I have to keep taking the batteries in and out .
I use the ar 5000 lead with it .
Does anyone have any idea why it is doing it?

I see you have an AR-DV1 why not use that for recording ?

@radioshane What 8600 do you have? You've not said whether you have the Mk 1 or Mk 2 version. In case you are not aware but the Mk 2 had a re-designed 8-pin ACC Mini Din socket.

Quote from the Mk 2 manual ... "The AR8600 Mark2 provides squelch controlled audio output to pins 6 & 7 of the rear panel ACC connector. For this reason, pins 4 & 5 no-longer have relay controlled squelch switching. The audio output and detector levels have been revised".

This means when using the CR5000 Tape Recording Lead you no longer have automatic start/stop for audio recording.

@radioshane Ok, this doesn't sound like what I thought it might be. Get some decent batteries. You've a good receiver there, shame to use cheap batteries in the receiver and any other device such as the dictaphone you're using to record. I suggest you pay that extra for quality batteries. Such as ...

... and not any charger will do. It's best to get a charger that you have control over, such as this one that allows you to control the mAh recharge rate. The lower the mAh recharge the longer it will take to recharge but it'll extend the shelf-life of the battery by a few years.

Many rechargeable batteries only are capable of 1.2 v, as opposed to 1.5 v for standard batteries.

If a device needs 4 for example, then instead of 6 v, it only gets 4.8, which often does not suffice
