The AOR AR-DV1 manual states that:

"When activated, character information such as call sign in digital mode can be displayed at the bottom of the LCD."

I have turned the function on when listening to some of the digital amateur radio repeaters, but no information like station call signs (or anything else for that matter) ever gets displayed. I hear guys mentioning that call signs are coming up on their own radios.

Anyone else have this experience, or has anyone actually got this function to work ?

Thanks.

Partial Answer, Perhaps

I did tune into a D-Star repeater on the 440 band, and to my surprise, the DV1 did display call signs of stations who were communicating. But I am still not getting those of DMR repeaters, even though I understand that those communicating are seeing that information displayed on their own radios.

Any thoughts you might have would be appreciated.

Hello,

So far D-Star is the only mode that it will decode digital info other than CC, RAN, or NAC.

Thanks Eric for that information. I thought that I was missing some setting since, so perhaps call-sign display on systems other than D-Star can be made available via a future firmware upgrade.

One more question for you Eric. Although I turned on the DMR function and added a color code number and then saved a business-band channel to memory, other color codes are coming through as well on that frequency. Is there some other setting that I am missing that would prevent other codes from being heard?

FWIW, I am seeing call sign information being displayed on a local DMR repeater as I type this posting, so it's working on DMR here in Oregon!

Thanks Chris for that input. I imagine something with the way the digital repeaters are programmed to retransmit the data that is passed from station to station. So far, only luck here has been with those D-Star repeaters, but I'll keep my eye on the DMR machines to see if anything pops up on the display.
