I'm new to this so I hope I do this right..I live in Birmingham, Alabama and I'm trying to find out if the Jefferson County Sheriffs is using a 3600 baud rate or 9600...I have a Uniden 785D scanner and I'm told that if I buy the BCi-25 card I can pick there freq. ,,but I'm also told that if the Dept. is using the 9600 baud rate that I will need to buy a new scanner..
Before I purchase a BCi-25 card, can anyone tell me if they know what baud rate they use or how to find out ??
Under the database of RR they say that the dept. does use the Apco-25 but does that support 2 baud rates?? thank you.......

The control channel only has one baud rate, in the database if it says System type: Project 25 Standard- it's 9600 baud, if it says Mot II it's 3600 baud. The database is showing both the city of Birmingham and Jefferson Co's systems as MOT II (3600 baud CC).

Keep in mind though, that after your system rebands, your 785D will no longer trunk track Motorola systems. Might want to save the 100 bux and sell the 785D and invest in a scanner that will survive rebanding. Just a thought :)
