• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Not sure at this point. APCO is the only trade show my employer is allowing that is radio related, since IWCE allows anyone in nowadays. However, my employer also does not see a benefit from becoming a member, even having three dozen fire departments across the country, and often sending a dozen or more people to APCO each year.....we go on an individual basis, and never know until the last minute (which means expensive airfare and hotel rates as well).

From my perspective, the cost of sending someone to APCO could be used to purchase a radio or two instead (use mostly APX8000XE's). Being a private corporation, means no grant money.

Enjoy. Always nice to see the wares on display before you buy.

Not this year. I've been approved for next year in San Antonio (again…). I'll be packing a cell phone

Sorry to here mmckenna is not attending in Baltimore.

I only about 15 minutes from this location and would have been nice meet face to fzce over a beer. I would have even brought you one
.

Seems like I was just in Baltimore a few years ago, but I checked and it was 2006. Enjoyed it.
Now, it seems like every time I get sent somewhere for work, it's either Phoenix or San Antonio. I think I've been to SA now about 5 times in the last 7-8 years.

Always happy to buy the first round.

I’m headed up Saturday. First time attending APCO. Might hit IWCE this fiscal year as well.
You'll see all the big radio players here. APCO doesn't allow any Chinese spy turds in the way IWCE does, which has become infested with ratware so why bother.
APCO is where it's at. Went for the firs time in Nashville 2023 and had a blast. Baltimore...ought to be interesting.

Let’s see what Motorola releases next. Maybe the APX Next-Next ? Having tripple screens. Large touch screen on the front and back and small screen on top.

All kidding aside after having Nexts around for awhile now ( with a mix of 8000’s ) I always pick up the 8000 and the new guys always go for the Nexts.

Have fun those of you guys that are going to APCO this year
