Hi all,

Not sure where else to put this or who to ask so I'll put this out here and hope for the best. I'm the author of an Android app that is used to monitor the public-sanitized live CAD page for Phoenix FD (more info is available in my sig for the curious among you). I'd like to add the ability to monitor Phoenix FD dispatch audio from RR within the app. My question is: Do I need an API license for that and if so: How do I get one? The Wiki page says RR isn't providing any new live scanner apps with API licenses, but this is a bit different as it would only be capable of playing the dispatch audio for the department in question and not the whole feed catalog. In addition, it displays live CAD info which no other live scanner-ish app does.

Right now ActiveEMS is only available for Phoenix but I'm planning to roll it out for other cities in the near future and would like to add this as a feature to each city's version. Any info you can provide in this regard would be great so I can get this added to the app and out to my users.

Thanks!
-AZ

I think they are accepting Android API's, just not ones for iOS since there's plenty of apps for that OS. Besides, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Well I haven't heard a word and not sure where I'm supposed to submit such a request, so... yeah. Stumped. It would be a nice feature to add, but if I can't get the official OK to do so I guess the app can just call an intent to Scanner Radio to pull up the feed so that I don't step on any toes. Might get Gordon a few more paid downloads as well. :)

Gordon, if you are interested, could you PM me the details so that my app can pass an intent to yours to pull up a particular feed? That would give my app the feature I need without putting "yet another live scanner app" on the market which I think is the intent behind closing the licensing for live scanner apps on RR.

Thank you,
-AZ

Click your name at the very top of this page, then click the "API Keys" tab to open the API page up so you can submit your request.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I applied for an API key as I'm developing an Android app and I haven't received a word back. Can someone please point me into the right direction regarding this matter?
Thanks and sorry again.

Submitted a request as well and has been pending for a couple days now. Any idea how long we can expect to wait? Thanks for any help.
