Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all,

We recently started using APX 900's at work, full time encryption, and I bumped the radio and now there is a "beep" heard before each transmission I hear on the system. I have searched how to enable/disable this beep (or mode) but have found no information. Normal monitoring of conventional P25 P1, Channel #, Zone A is showing on the screen.

Does this sound similar to other radio systems and how do you enable/disable this beep?

Thanks

I don't believe its priority scan as the channel is set manually. Yes, programmed enc. Like I said, I bumped the radio and it started so it's got to be a button press of some sort. This is the second time it's happened so I'm at a loss. I'm not complaining, because in the busy work environment that I'm in, it helps. I'm wanting to know how to activate it if I use another radio.

It's Priority Scan Alert. Got to be.

Even though you've set the channel selector manually, the scan list has that channel or the selected channel set as a Priority Member and Priority Scan Alert is turn on in the codeplug and Scan mode is activated.

Check the display for a Z icon.

Turn scan on/off using one of many side buttons, selector switches, or soft menu keys.

Thanks Outerdog, I think you're right, I do recall the Z symbol on the screen and will check tomorrow. Checked out the manual and its the top button on the side next to the volume knob. Thanks!

I have another question about the APX 900, could not find the answer in the manual. How is AES encryption enabled? The old BK radios we used simply flipped a switch, these not so easy.
Thanks
