• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

In the APX 900, how many talkgroups can be put in a single scan list?

Can you put talkgroups from different systems in the same scan list?

TIA.

- 50 talkgroups in a Priority Monitor scan list (one system only)
- 250 talkgroups in Multi-System Talkgroup and Intelligent Priority scan lists
- 30 channels in a Conventional scan list

You can include talkgroups from up to 5 systems in a Multi-System Talkgroup or Intelligent Priority scan list, however you are still restricted to 50 talkgroups per system. You can also mix conventional channels into those scan list types (up to 30), however the hard limit of all scan lists members is 250 regardless of type.

Intelligent Priority is nothing more than the original Multi-System Talkgroup scan list type, but with the ability to select Priority 1 and Priority 2 members. Those can be from any system or conventional channel in the scan list, however the caveat is that if the scanner is dwelling on System A's control channel, it's not going to have any awareness of what is going on with System B, System C, etc. Same concept applies if there are conventional channels in the list; if the radio has landed on one of those, it won't have any awareness of any trunking activity, and vice versa.

I've noticed that on the APX 900 that the signal strength indicator is missing from the display. Is this because it's programmed for non-affiliate scanning?

If you have it programmed for non-affiliate scan, the RSSI indicator will not appear. Only in trunking mode.

No one hates bad info being put out into the world more than me, and so I have to double back to correct myself!

The limit of conventional channels in a Multi-System Talkgroup or Intelligent Priority scan list type is 10, not 30. All other info in my post is accurate.

Kudos brother. Been there too many times where I have to look at myself and say in a Fred Sanford voice "YOU BIG DUMMY!" :ROFLMAO:
