• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

We have an APX7500 and have activated "TONE REMOTE" Operation.

The radio is receiving the tones, but the 'functions' are not defined.

where do we tell the radio that Function 1 is change to Zone1 Channel 1, Function 2 zone 1 channel 2, etc?

We can't find it in the web menu or the codeplug software. I'm sure it is there, just can't find it.

The Consolette controller card is configured using a standard web browser running on a computer.
Additional programming software is not required as the application resides within the Consolette.
Supported connection methods include USB and Ethernet.

See page 3-19 in the APX service manual P.N.: 68009482001B

We have found the web GUI, and have told the radio Tone 1 means perform Function 1.
But I can't find anywhere to tell the radio what function 1 is.

From APX manual # 68009483001C

TRC Supported Functionality
Channel – The dispatch console user uses the Select Frequency command to change the Consolette’s radio channel. This will select items such as a talk group and an air interface type.

The number of channels that can be changed by the dispatcher is 14.
NOTE: Selection of 16 channels is possible if the tone table is set up to not use Coded/Clear
operation.

When a Select Frequency command is received from the Console, the Consolette will send a message to the mobile radio to steer it to the channel requested.

The channel number from the Console is mapped linearly to a zone and channel in the mobile radio. For example, if each zone has 5 channels, and the Console requests channel 8, the Consolette will steer the mobile to channel 3 in zone 2.

If the mobile does not allow the indicated channel, the Consolette will generate a “bonk” tone and remain in the current channel.

I will try again. We were getting PTT, but the radio was not changing channels when the appropriate tone was sent. My assumption is that the radio is getting tones, because it's getting the PTT, but it's not responding to them.
That's why when I was sending the "f1 select" tone, I thought it was "Function 1". You're saying it's frequency 1. Is there a reason why when I send the f2 tone, it would not be switching to frequency 2, as indicated above should happen?

Page 4-8 of the 68009482001C says "The frequencies can be mapped to functions in the Consolette codeplug."

My apologies for not conveying well what we are seeing, My first time working with Motorola Tone Remote.

We got these working! The positive and negative were reversed on the input audio, and when corrected, got us up and running.
Thank you all for the help!
This operation is really slick now.
