Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi, I just purchased an extra 09 head for my APX7500, and "CH ID # ERR" shows up.

I understand that this is because both heads are configured to be Control Head #1, and I need to configure one of the heads to be Control Head #2.

I think it is just a matter of putting the head into FPP (Not the FPP that I am accustomed to) by pressing some sequence buttons and turning the channel knob to CH #2.

I've scoured the internet, and looked at manuals and can't find this Information for 09 heads. Can someone give me a clue on what button sequence to press?

Thanks in advance. Frank

I've tried that, and I just tried that again with no success. The 05 heads need left most button and orange button, but that doesn't work on 09 heads. Thank you for your thoughts.

Yes, Section 2.2.2.5 describes exactly how to set up a 05 series head, but I have a 09 head. I want to do that same procedure to a 09 head.
There seems to be a shortage of 09 Head information.

Make sure the EMER is actually pressed, you can hear a slight audible click when depressed. It's a little touchy.

Thanks for the input everyone. I am getting closer to the answer. Motorola tech support said (after a few call transfers to find their expert) "you can not run two 09 heads" with the thought being that the person at the remote station does not need, and should not be using the public safety controls (siren, lights, air horn) remotely.

They did say that I could run a 09 head and a 05 head together. Any other multiple head set up will all have to be the same model head.
I have access to every model head except the 05, so a 05 head is on order. I'll let you know if that is successful.

Thanks again for everyones input.

Considering I can't mix and match any other heads I can't see where an O9and O5 will work together. I guess let us know. I'll dig around for an O5 in my stuff and see if it will power up with the O9. I have my doubts.
