Does anyone know how to reset this handy back to the factory default settings without shipping it back to AOR directly. This is unusual and very frustrating.

AOR replied to my e-mail indicating that the unit must be shipped for master resettings and that a "special tool is used".

HELP HELP!!!

OK, why do you need to hard reset the unit? Did you monkey around with it without reading the owner's manual?

The MkII and MkIII do have a function (switch the radio on whilst holding down the scan button, keep the scan button pressed until the start-up display goes off), which allows you to delete all the memories but I'm not sure what effect it has on radio settings (it doesn't alter search settings IIRC).

Best course of action - If you are using software with your radio or you are a reasonable spreadsheet user then you could upload a memory dump from another 8200. AOR Uk would likely send you a basic US memory dump if you asked them. Can't see any reason for the unit needing to go back to AOR unless you have no programming lead/software.

Looks good so far. Thanks for the help. I'm Canadian so I'm not sure if AOR would have dumped the default factory bin file back on the handy or not.

Ah - The 8200 wasn't available from AOR with a Canadian bandplan etc. pre-programmed. If you know someone else with a more suitable setup you could ask them for a memory dump and then upload that to your scanner.
Good luck

I dunno about the 8200's...but on my 8000 you can delete whole channel banks and stuff pretty easily. If you get it connected to a PC and do it it's even easier. When I got mine I read through the manual and got it cleared out in about 10 minutes.
