I am trying the demo version of this software but it can't find my BCD996XT. The other programs connect just fine.

check the port config in the software & see if its matching the one shown in windows:). also make sure ya have the latest version :)

Have you hooked the Uniden cable it to a serial port on your computer and your scanner? Did you do an serial port autodetect in ARC?

Are you using the Uniden USB/Serial adapter cable (USB-1)?

If you are, you have to use the drivers from Uniden. There are more recent drivers that work with other software packages, but only the Undien drivers work with ARC-XT.

Once ARC finds your serial port with the auto detect and you have cable plugged propertly plugged into your scanner then go to the ARC tool bar and click on "Scanner" then click on "Virtual Control" on the drop down tool bar. You should see an image of the front of your scanner on your computer screen.

If that doesn't work try the same thing connecting your cable from your scanner to a PC with an actual serial port. It that doesn't work I would do a memory clear and try the above procedure again. If that still doesn't work that I would suspect that your USB driver could be the problem.

Anyone still having problems with this? I just got my 396XT and ARC XT Pro but on my Windows XP machine at home, every time I try to read, send, control, etc, the program freezes up. It works fine on my Vista laptop, but I would rather use it with the comforts of my desktop. I have tried the USB-1 cable and the included serial cable using a USB to serial converter. They both work fine on my laptop but not on the desktop. I also used Freescan at home using the same cables and did the firmware update from the same computer with no problem. It has to be the Butel software that is acting up. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times, disabled everything running, but still no luck.

On another note, I have also had the talkgroups turned to 0 on several of my systems. Just wondering if anyone else is still having these problems.

Whats strange is that the same cables work fine on my 996T using ARC996 Pro. And I did the firmware updates on that computer using the USB-1 cable, so obviously it can't be a driver issue.

ARC XT demo crash

I am also trying the ARC XT PRO demo with my BCT15X. I don't have the official Uniden USB, I have a radio shack serial to USB adapter cable. This connection method worked fine with my BCT15 and BcTool. Now when I try to connect the 15X in ARC XT my computer gives me the blue screen of death and crashes. I was wondering if anyone could help me with this. Could it be an issue with me not having the Uniden cable? Thanks!
