• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

It's probably a "mental error" or something simple that I'm overlooking but I'm having no luck at all getting the ARC396 software to detect my scanner. I've used two different cables so I'm certain it's not the cable. I've tried it on different USB ports of my PC (which work fine for other things) and no luck. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What cable are you using to connect via USB? Did you install the drivers for the cable?

Did you turn on PC Control on your 396 and note the correct port speed so you could make the software match it?

My 396T cable is on it's last leg. The scanner can be sitting motionlesss and any scanner software will lose contact. I have to jiggle the plug tp the 396T a dozen times before it makes contact. There is play in the scanner port. I think I need a new cable.
