WS1065: ARC500 Software

Hello.
I am thinking about adding a WS1065. Decent deal on Best Buy.com.
Is the ARC500 software I use with my RS Pro 106 compatible with the WS1065?
Are updates needed? I have had my software for several years and may be dated.

They are showing a new 2022 version of the software on the site as well. You get free lifetime upgrades so you might as well update. I suspect it will still work fine even if you don't update if it's already working with your other scanner.

ARC500 supports the WS1065. Under the Scanner tab, you can install the driver for your USB programming cable.

Yes you may need to update to the 2022 latest release. ARC500 is the only software that is still fully supported. Also please bookmark our new website, the old one is being phased out https://www.butel.nl/shop/us/

Is it necessary to install the driver for the USB programming cable as it works fine with my Pro-106?
If so, how do I install it for the WS1065?
tvengr, When you say under the Scanner tab, do you mean when I open up the ARC500 it has the scanner models listed?
When I open the software it lists all of the Radio Shack models, no Whistler, as I said my software version is quite old.

If you are using Windows 10/11 Windows should automatically install the proper driver whenever you plug in a new device. Manually installing as some suggest may not be a good idea since you could install an older driver.

I am using Windows 10, so hopefully it will be a smooth transition.
If not, I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out, on way or the other.
The only thing left is to buy the radio.

The Scanner tab is not used to select models. That is where you Upload to or Download from the scanner. The software supports any of the GRE, Radio Shack,, and Whistler models listed. Under the Help tab, you can check for updates.

The USB cable driver in ARC500 was just added in a recent update. It's there if you need it.
