This is not my usual post so here goes...

We have questions about the 2nd connector and future use.

We have questions about UpMan's avatar.

My question,

Does anyone think the green beaming antenna icon for the function key is suggestive of something more to come? I'll admit I've only pressed it to see if it works. :D I don't dive into the radio more that just casual scanning so for those deep into the SDS100 operation maybe to them it makes sense.

Any thoughts...

I actually believe the Green Beaming Function Key was used from their marine radio that had the same case.

My thought is you’re thinking into it too much. It’s a function button. Every scanner I’ve had dating back to the BCD785 has had one and it has a specific purpose. As far as the “beaming antenna “ symbol, it has to be marked with something so it can be readily identified.

I’m sorry, but I’ve never read anywhere that “you are supposed to overthink it” except in your response. You asked for a response or thought and I gave mine. Do you poo-poo any response you don’t agree with? I’ve heard many times before “ If you don’t think you’ll like the answer don’t ask the question “.

It's supposed to be humorous.

Sorry, I didn’t read that, I just responded to a question. You not being the OP how did you know it was supposed to be humorous? Maybe that’s just your interpretation.

Maybe it will activate a master unencryption key so you can hear everything again, kind of like the old master key the janitors had that would open every door in the school. Now that feature would sell the heck out of them for sure but I can't imagine what the price would be ;)

or it might activate the HUMOR light, so folks know when these bits/bytes are to be interpreted as humor or HUMOR
or it could [now be carefull trying it] reset users to New Members and reset them to moderated posts :)

If you press the green beaming antenna icon, the 5 button and press the rotary knob while standing on your left foot with your right foot above your waist it turns on the secret Waffle mode that was hinted about earlier.

Please note that this only works with the beta firmware that includes the encryption decoder and opens the radio for full cellular coverage (NSA Mode). When used in conjunction with Waffle Mode the NSA mode allows you to have your waffles and listen to them at the same time.

Shh! That’s what the micro USB port is for. No one is supposed to know yet, that is what Paul’s “Mystery Box” avatar trying to indicate. The top one is for syrup and the bottom one for butter. That way you get the best of both worlds.
