Skier dies on Aspen Mountain
Pitkin County, Colorado – January 11th, 2014 – On Saturday, January 11th, 2014, around 2:45pm,
the Aspen Pitkin County Communications dispatch center received a 911 call about a skier who had
been found unconscious, tangled up in trees, near the Bellissimo ski run on Aspen Mountain.
Ski patrollers were alerted and immediately began performing CPR on the unresponsive man.
Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
While there were no known witnesses to the accident, rescuers surmised that the man left the
designated ski trail and collided with trees, suffering head trauma upon impact.
Authorities identified the man as Jonathan Stuart, a 56*year*old Aspen resident.
