Hello all, I've heard about this concept before but it appeared to be as problematic to get up & running as SDR, since SDR has come a long way in such a short period of time I figure ATCS monitoring should be easier to deal with as well, is anybody here in Florida presently engaged in this aspect of the hobby?

I monitor the FEC ATCS system. CSX has gone over to satellite. You have to belong to the ATCS Yahoo group in order to download the ATCS program and whatever railroad you want to monitor (If it's available). For the FEC, once everything is installed, you are automatically hooked up to all the servers that some good folks provide. You don't have to monitor the ATCS freqs, these good folks have set up almost the entire length of the FEC.

Thanks for that information, FEC has always appeared to be one of the most railfan friendly carriers on the East Coast, CSX has been affectionately nicknamed CIA in the Northeastern parts since they totally blacked out the former Conrail PD frequencies in the Atlantic 160.68 MHz & Northeast regions 160.56 MHz, some say that move was the result of the notorious "Conrail Boyz" crime spree but the most popular consensus is CSX was & still is just being CSX with their ultra paranoid demeanor, here's the video, enjoy.
