I stumbled upon this new ULS license granted in May 2023: WRXH919. Frequencies listed for Athens are:

772.20625
772.45625
772.88125
773.43125
773.73125
774.70625

Anyone know if this is the new AIRS site for Limestone county? It doesn't seem to be active yet but I'll keep an eye out.

I'm 99 percent sure that Athens and Limestone county are now fully changed over to the AIRS p25 phase II system. I listened to them daily on my analog scanner and I think it was Friday January 19th 2024 when the last activity on 460.2 Limestone county and 460.05 was heard.

I’ll monitor the 7/800 frequencies on SDR today and see if anything changed

I'm receiving analog traffic on 460.2 and 460.05

I didn't hear or see any data on any of the 7/800 channels from the license

No new neighboring sites listed on Huntsville simulcast either according to SDRTrunk

I was eating lunch today in Athens. The table next there were several law enforcement eating also. We all left at the same time and asked one if he knew when they were switching to digital. He said it looks like it will be in April.

Looks like I was wrong. I just heard traffic on 460.2 for sure. For some reason I'm not picking up anything still on the Athens City .05 frequency. I live very close to the hwy 31 Tennessee River bridge in Decatur. I've always picked both up loud and clear. Still picking up the county traffic now but nothing from the city. Who knows what is going on between me and signals.

Just posted an update about the discovery of the Athens site in the "Alabama Interoperable Radio System (was: Alabama First Responder Network)" thread

UHF has been dead today. Lots of activity on the 7/800 site, all talk groups utilizing ADP encryption. Does anyone know if LE switched over? Or if they’re doing a trial run on tac channels? I could’ve sworn on the original proposal that dispatch channels would be in the clear, with tac channels using AES256 and OTAR.

New SDS100 received yesterday. Updated firmware and downloaded database. AIRS for Athens/Limestone shows being ‘scanned’ but no traffic heard. Also tried zip code location and the Lat/Long found in RadioReference. Agencies also turned on. Broad scope question I know, but any suggestions / thoughts on what I need to do?

Use discovery mode under the Athens/Limestone site, no talkgroups have been logged in the RR database for limestone county yet

I'm trying to figure it out myself. I did some talkgroup scans in the frequencies that are available in the database and came up with two: 33707 and 33751. When I checked out the details though both were labeled encrypted. Knowing there are typically more talkgroups who knows if those are the only two utilized, but may have been the only two emitting in those particular scan windows. REALLY bummed about this, I mean given there is no online retrans (heck HSV and Madison have online broadcasts IIRC), why not flip to Tac or encrypted for sensitive stuff. Also unaware on impacts of interop, but the typical analog has been silent for me since last weekend.
