Good morning!

Yesterday, I heard Station 2 (Atmore PD in Escambia County) dispatching a call to MedStar EMS on AIRS TG 24185 (in the RRDB as North Baldwin EMS in Baldwin County). I've done some checking today and confirmed North Baldwin EMS is no longer in business though a former employee founded Baldwin EMS, LLC, which operates as a private ambulance service in Bay Minette - the old stomping grounds of North Baldwin EMS.

As monitored for years, Baldwin Central dispatches MedStar throughout the county with the exception of Orange Beach who maintain their own EMS units. MedStar is infrequently called for backup in Orange Beach.

Atmore PD dispatches MedStar in the city of Atmore and portions of Escambia County on AIRS TG 27268 so hearing them on a Baldwin County TG was new to me. I'll be submitting a name change to RRDB but am looking for any help as to what the TG is called internally as well as any insight regarding the conditions for its use.

If it's making it through the Seminole tower, I should hear something so I'll keep an ear out for activity.

I don't recall ever hearing Medstar 1 dispatches to anywhere in Bay Minette or points north and had assumed that North Baldwin EMS talkgroup was only being heard on the Rabun and Bay Minette towers. Then again, I have never heard anything on the 911 North Fire TG, either. Only way I hear it is the analog repeater or via the Foley-Daphne NXDN network.

Listen for MedStar Station 11 on MedStar EMS 1 (TG 24195) for calls in Bay Minette and points north. If the call includes a rural fire department response, it will also be multi-cast on BC 911 Fire N (AIRS TG 21190) or if the call includes Bay Minette FD, it will be multi-cast on BCFD Disp N (NXDN TG 118). The fire dispatches can also be heard on the north tower near Rabun on 154.130 if close enough.

Baldwin Central confirmed MedStar is the only contracted ambulance service they dispatch and cover all of Baldwin County. Atmore PD confirmed they dispatch MedStar in Atmore and the west end of Escambia County. I'm trying to confirm if TG 24185 is what they use for MedStar dispatching outside of Atmore and TG 27268 for in the city.

In the meantime, TG 24185 is now listed in the RRDB as MedStar EMS 4 with a description as being dispatched by Atmore PD.

If the north tower is at Rabun that explains why I don't have a great signal down for the analog simulcast here in the Foley area. It's been a while since I've listened to the analog side but it seems to only be available with my outdoor discone, and not on my portables.

I've got a recording set up for 24185 but so far nothing. Hopefully it'll pop up on the Seminole tower at some point.
