Hello all,

Can anyone give me a run-down on what Auburn campus public safety uses for communications? I was there briefly a few months ago and don’t recall hearing them on their DMR frequency listed in the database although it’s possible I was too far away. I do know the city police and fire in encrypted while Lee county is in the clear.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks!

So, Auburn University relies on the City of Auburn to provide fire and police services to the campus. The university does; however, have a public safety department which consists of EMA and campus security admin personnel. Many years ago, there was a campus police department until it was disbanded and contracted through the city. My best guess for the frequency would be that its mostly inactive or used for administrative traffic. All public safety type traffic would have to be monitored through East Alabama Medical Center EMS dispatch channel since, as you mentioned, the city police and fire division is encrypted.

In the 70s, when I was a student, I went to the University Police office and asked the only guy there what their radio frequency was. He sternly informed me that was classified information. A few days later I bought a copy of Police Call -- it was listed, 153 something I think. Anyway, it was interesting listening to them back then.
