• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

Question... Is there any difference in the audio output, (ie. watts) between the front and rear jacks on the BCD-996T or the BCT-15.

Yes, the ext spkr jack on the back is made to be used with an external speaker that can be driven by the higher power available there. The front jack is for use with headphones. It is cut back in power so as not to blow out your eardrums.

From both Uniden manuals (BCT15 & BCD996T), Specifications section in the back:

Audio Output :
2.6W nominal into 8Ω speaker
30mW nominal into 32Ω stereo headphone

Probably rear/front, respectively.
