AURORA, Colo. -- A girl around 5 to 6 years old was killed in a horrific crash with a King Soopers semitrailer Friday afternoon.
The male driver and two other children are seriously injured. One child was airlifted to Children's Hospital. The other child and the man were transported to Aurora South Medical Center.
The crash occurred on Tower Road and East 19th Avenue in Aurora.
Witnesses said that the green pickup truck was going northbound on Tower Road when it started fishtailing. The vehicle went off the road, went through a field of and crashed into a parked trailer. The pickup truck ended up crushed under the big rig, the roof of the truck was shorn off and landed several feet away.
"It's very tough to see little children in this situation. It's real tough," said Aurora Lt. Troy Edwards.
It's not known yet why the pickup truck lost control. Police don't know if speed or alcohol or drugs were factors.
The driver will have a blood test to see if alcohol was involved.
