A head-on crash killed two people this evening when a Ford Taurus struck a Chevrolet Yukon on E-470 just north of Quincy Ave. At approximately 8:20 p.m. the Ford Taurus was reported to the Colorado State Patrol Communications Center after a witness observed the vehicle southbound in the northbound lanes of E-470. Troopers were en route to the area when the crash occurred at 8:24 p.m.
Both the female driver of the Taurus and the male driver of the Yukon died on scene. Three minor passengers of the Yukon were transported to Children’s Hospital with unknown injuries.
It is unknown what caused the driver of the Taurus to enter E-470 headed in the wrong direction. This crash is currently under investigation. E-470 is closed northbound at Quincy Ave. Traffic is being diverted onto Quincy at this time.
