Greene Co There Is No 800 Stuff Will The Radio Shack 800 Hurt The Lower Reception 100-400 Range?
Using the R/S 800Mhz antenna on my 396XT, I don't see a real noticeable drop-off on Uhf (Dallas PD & FD are Uhf, 453 & 460 Mhz frequencies). I do lose some of the weaker Vhf-high agencies, but these are mostly the very small suburbs, lower power, probably a low mounted tower, as well as in the far corner of the county from me. There is a slightly reduced signal on the other Vhf-high agencies, but it's an acceptable trade for the improvement in 800Mhz. For now, this area has 800Mhz trunked, a few 800Mhz conventionals, as well as Vhf-high & Uhf conventional. Parker County, just west of Fort Worth, has a Vhf-high P25 trunked system, but that's out of range from my house, even using a roof mounted antenna.
