Hello,

I am really having a hard time getting to program my new PSR-600. I assume that the Motorala II SmartZone would be programed under the Motorala Type II 800 MHz trunked radio system. But I still can't get past the MY System part. All I want to do is put in the frequencie of the Maricopa County Sherrif or Sun City Fire Department or Luke Air Force Base and put in what it is and go on to the next one or a different city police or fire I am not even sure if the Sun City Fire department would be under CONV or TGRP?

I was in Radio Shack several years ago and they had a police scanner that was in the $400 range which I feelt was high at the time and it looked more like a mobile unit than a base unit.

I was told by the sales person that they could connect that scanner to the computer and download everything in the Phoenix Metro area including the Maracoipa County Sheriff channels.

Is there software that will do that for the PSR-600? Would it put in not only the frequencies put what they are like Police, Fire, Luke Air Force, Sherrif etc or whould that have to be prgramed by myself?

Thank you

The short answer is yes there is software that will do it. There is PSREdit500, Win500, and ARC500. Out of those I personally recommend Win500 (http://www.starrsoft.com). You can use the free trail version of them to figure out which one you like the best. The only other thing you really need is a premium subscription to this site ($15 for 180 days) and you can import directly to the programs.

NO. You have to put all the info. into the software, then it will put that into the scanner, saving you from pushing all those little buttons dozens or hundreds of times. Instead, you have to push the keys on your computer keyboard dozens or hundreds of times.

There is another option, one we have used here for years. File download.
Here is how we do it:
Someone in need of programming for this or any area,
makes a request on this forum or some other forum:
"Would like a .p500 file to program for Maricopa County, AZ"
If someone reading the mail is nice, and has such a file,
the two of you can agree on a way to email it.
You receive the file, scan it for virus, and put it into your
Win500 program.

Of course, you will be importing someone else's idea of
good programming, but it beats the alternative.

Post your request here and on the Arizona Forum.

Well that isn't entirely true. In only a few key strokes you can do it through importing the info from RR (with a premium subscription). It doesn't take hundreds of presses on the keyboard.
