Hi, I'm located in South Florida and am new to scanning. One of the things I'm picking up down here is some sort of automated rail-related fault detection system. What I'll hear is an automated message along the lines of (paraprased, can't remember exact wording) "Fault detector 81.5", then a passenger (Tri Rail) train goes by, then it reports "Fault detector 81.5, one-six axles, no faults detected". Lately I've also heard this followed up by an actual person confirming no faults.
I'm wondering what this system is monitoring, if it's the rails or something on the cars (since it's reporting the axle count). I looked in google and really couldn't find much.
Thanks,
-Jeff
