Apologies in advance if this has already been asked and answered, I wasn't able to find it...
Is there a way to program the G5 to receive P25 trunked talkgroups audibly live, like a scanner or subscriber radio, but not record the transmissions? It sure seems like this would be possible given the PPS parameter description for the Voice Storage and Voice Buffering options, but for the life of me I can't seem to make it work.
I have tried every permutation of the Voice Storage, Voice Buffering and Alert Mode options I can figure in PPS, and every combination records the transmission (some combinations play the audio live, and others only allow audio to be heard on recording playback). I cannot seem to find a way to hear transmissions live but NOT record them.
I'm looking for a way to do this because I have no interest in recordings and would prefer to save the processor power and battery that I presume is being dedicated to this unnecessary (for me) function. The G5 audio is also about a half second delayed compared to my KNG radio, and entirely misses the first perhaps 1/4 of a second of each transmission as compared to my KNG radio, and I wonder whether skipping the unneeded recording feature might avoid this delay and small missed portion of each transmission.
