I recently purchased a Whistler WS1065 scanner and programmed it with psrEdit500.
I am in Benton AR, and I know the AWIN system is going through a lot of changes.
But as of lately, it seems like I am hearing a LOT of scrambled channels getting through, and have to keep locking out more and more channels. And since this is an object oriented scanner, this can be tough, and time consuming to do!
Does anyone know what is happening, are they ALL going scrambled?? or what is going on?
I thought I remembered the software mentioning blocking scrambled secured channels?? Maybe I am just getting old LOL.

I do not know of any mass "everyone is going E" thing. Some counties and/or municipalities are already but state level I'm not aware of that as far as a mass move.

I'm not sure what "I know the AWiN system is going through a lot of changes" unless you mean the transition to P25 Phase II which the WS1065 will not receive I don't believe. Perhaps that's your issue? I'm not sure it would come in garbled or scrambled though.

If you go to Arkansas Wireless Information Network (AWIN) Trunking System, Statewide, Multi-State and look under Saline County, it shows that a majority of law enforcement groups are encrypted. You won't be able to monitor the ones marked as "DE" in the database. It looks like the fire and EMS talkgroups are clear and monitorable.

Benton PD and Bryant PD are encrypted. All FD/VFD's and Pafford are in the clear. ASP/AHP are in the clear. You're likely hearing the local PD talkgroups or other encrypted talkgroups affiliated on the tower site you are monitoring. Those tower sites catch a LOT of traffic.
