I have a few railroad frequencies that I programmed in my scanner RS PRO-162 that I can't identify from the site so far. I've heard TXs from AAR 46, 64, 74, and 80 but I don't know exactly who uses the channels and their main functions. I've heard some NS activity on 46 and 50 from their Bayview Yard but I have 50 set as Bayview Yard. I've heard stuff on 64 and 74 alot, and on 80 sometimes. Does anyone know any information about these channels in the Baltimore area. Also, 64 is used around DC. Last I heard, I heard something like Benning Yard on it.

Wash.DC/Balt.MD area RR freq's

You are probably hearing the big three (AMTRAK,CSX,NS) on AAR 46 160.8 MHz & AAR 64 161.07 MHz in both cities, As for AAR 74 161.22 MHz & AAR 80 161.31 MHz it could be CSX in the Baltimore area. Check RR's database & check the many east coast rail enthusiest websites for the particular frequency assignments or someone on this forum could fill in the gaps for you.
Happy hunting

AAR 46 (160.800) has traditionally been the Conrail Landover Line, which I think CSX now owns. During its Conrail days, a northbound freight would be on 161.55 (CSX RFP sub.) up through the Potomac Yard and switch to 160.800 when reaching the south end of the bridge over the Potomac River. The line on this freq would run from that point (aka RO) to Landover, MD, where it joins the Amtrak NEC on 160.92. (Passenger trains would turn off of the Landover line in downtown DC and switch to 160.92 as they approached the tunnel to the Amtrak station) Unknown what the future of this freq is, now that CR belongs to CSX & NS.

These would be welcome on the wiki if the database folks won't take them....73 Mike

How recent are these frequencies, Disp 308? Also, can you provide anymore specifics for the frequencies under CSX, NS, and PBR. As for the MTA ones, the Light Rail road ones, I haven't heard anything on them at all since I programmed them in my scanner. I hear it on MTA's trunked network so I think those are depreciated (even though they are still valid).

That list is about 2-3 years old, I forgot to take out the MTA, but I thought they still used them for the Metro/Subway. I just started monitoring the Patapsco and Back River recently and have not figured out their system yet.

As for CSX what more would you like, some of the info I have received is from a reliable source of mine as well as I have heard trains identify themselves as being in those locations or looking for locations in those yards.

I have nothing else to offer

Nate.

P&brrr

Dispatcher308 I did a little research on the P&BRRR & it appears that they were aquired by OAO SEVERSTAL through SSP RR HOLDING LLC last year. Check this out.

160.59 MHz Still allocated
160.845 MHz Still allocated
160.365 MHz Allocation terminated
161.115 MHz Allocation terminated
161.52 MHz Still allocated
160.215 MHz New Allocation issued under callsign KFG698

Even though the two frequencies FCC allocations were terminated doesn't mean the railroad will cease operations on them, you know how these things work, I'm sure.

Here is an article explaining the aquisition.

Board Coverage Decision 08-51

I hope this helps

Anything else with the Yard frequency (161.535) for CSX. It's mainly the NS stuff that I'm trying to find out about. I have the Harrisburg Division timetable and 50 is listed for Bayview Yard. I've heard stuff on 46 (which might a be a secondary channel), but I know it's a road channel. Then theres 67, 74, and 80 to which when I did an FCC search, it gave me a location to around that area but can't pick up anything to identify if they are yard channels. Also, as for 11, 41, and 81, are those mainly Bayview or maybe things around Canton since I think NS has operations there?
