In UK & elsewhere there seems concern that the frequency spacing of 3.125 Khz is not available.

It looks like 3.125 should be available if you chose the right band plan & it may not be your country.
Just a thought, if you need 3.125 khz channel spacing, used a lot more now in UK. Use the BE Belgium band plan.
When you want a new config chose the country Band plan that suits your requirement.

The band plans need updating. The Australian one still has the MilAir band chopped off at 380MHz. Australia is not the USA and although P25 trunking is sometimes used between 380-400MHz that region still has tactical MilAir frequencies in active use.

We need to feed this info back & hope changes will be made.In the present scanning UK marine is incorrect has US format. Ch 0 missing etc.Mil air does now end at 380 due to Tetra. Feed it all back.

As I understand the scanner goes to half steps if you enable flex step. If you have 6,25 in your bandplan and enable flex step you can then enter a 3.125 step size frequency.

Isn't marine frequencies international, so that any ship from any country can use its marine VHF channels anywhere?

Good point Ubbe re 3.125, just preferred to put freq in as is. Marine, it is international mostly,do seem to think channel numbering for the US allocation is different to EU. US do not use 156.000 ie UK Chan Zero.Some 157 & 158 khz channels are used in UK for duplex dmr as the mobile tx freq. Some also short term hire. Many older frequency allocation list you see on the web are now out of date. Hard to keep up with some changes. It must make it hard for scanner makers to get the band plans right. Of course user created band plans would be helpful & cover everybody's needs.

Each country have their own unique bandplan. To make a scanner work in most countries it should have a bandplan where you state a start and stop frequency and what step size and modulation to use. 10 of those ranges are probably enough but no scanner has that. Uniden comes close with some scanners as they use fixed frequency ranges and within that predetermined range you can set a user definable step and modulation. It would be super easy for Uniden to modify a firmware, if they wanted to, to make the bandplan work like the 10 different search ranges you program in many of their scanner models.
